American Golden-Plovers are uncommon migrants in spring and fall, preferring grassland over mudflats. Small numbers of juveniles turn up at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in NYC as part of much larger flocks of Black-bellied Plovers. More commonly they are found on local sod farms in southern NJ and eastern Long Island.
